Celebrate the Christmas season with First Congregational Church

Join First Congregational Church in celebrating the Christmas season with music and sharing with our neighbors.

The Coastal Winds Concert Band will present a concert of Christmas favorites on Tuesday, December 5th at 6:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary.  Donations to support the church’s Fuel Assistance Fund will be accepted at the door.  The Coastal Winds,  a Freeport based  community band, comprises over 50 dedicated and talented woodwind, brass, and percussion instrumentalists.  Membership is on a volunteer basis and includes professional musicians, business people, and retirees from the Mid Coast area, as well as a few high school students.

The First Congregational Church Handbell Choir will present a Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 17th at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary.  We’ll ring in the Christmas season with a selection of Christmas carols – and we might invite you to sing along on a few! There is no admission for this concert.

Throughout the month of December, the church will be collecting items to assemble mini-warmth kits for Maine Needs.  The kits contain chapstick, handwarmers, tissues, a small hand lotion, adhesive bandages, and a $5 Dunkin Donut gift card.  These kits will be distributed to unhoused folks to bring a bit of warmth and comfort during our Maine winter. You can bring assembled kits or any of the items on this list to the church anytime during the month of December (including to one of the Christmas concerts).  Find out more about the work of Maine Needs at www.maineneeds.org.

The First Congregational Church of New Gloucester is located at 19 Gloucester Hill Road. You can find these concert dates and the list for the warmth kits on the church website – www.ngucc.org.
