At their December 18 meeting, the Select Board will review a proposed agreement with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office for workspace at Public Works. They’ll hear a presentation on speeding, with radar data from across town, and will discuss having Corcoran Environmental Services haul Transfer Station recyclables. An RFP for HVAC systems at the Town Office is also on deck.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Meetinghouse and will be broadcast on local cable and live-streamed at this link.
Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office substation. In an effort to keep a presence and maximize patrols locally, the board agreed in principle for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office to relocate to space in the Public Works building. The CCSO currently uses inadequate space in the Town Hall Complex.
A draft one-year agreement, which has the CCSO carrying liability insurance and covering maintenance and other direct expenses, is in the meeting agenda packet at pp. 14-16.
Speeding analysis from BLING. Debra Smith of BLING (Building Livability in New Gloucester) will present results and recommendations from a speeding data collection project. Volunteers used radar guns at 18 different locations, including near schools. Read the analysis, “Speeding in New Gloucester: A Snapshot,” at pp.3-5.
Corcoran Environmental hauling agreement. At a recent meeting, Public Works Director Ted Shane described an offer from Corcoran Environmental Services of Lewiston to transport Transfer Station recycling at its own expense (glass and tin cans are excluded). Read the proposed agreement at pp.17-22.
RFP for replacement heating and cooling system at the Town Office. The Town is looking to upgrade ineffective and inefficient heating and cooling for interior spaces at the Town Office. A draft RFP detailing the scope of hoped-for work to be completed by June 30, 2024, is at pp.26-27.
Boards and Committees application. A revised application for appointment to boards and committees has been in the works and is up for review. The proposed form includes details about the board’s method of nominating and voting on applicants (pp.28-31).
Dates for public hearing on town-owned property. The board will discuss scheduling a public hearing regarding town-owned properties, including the former town gravel pit on Morse Road, site of target shooting that has generated complaints (full property list at p.32).
