The Select Board is expected to discuss their latest draft appointment guidelines and application for town boards and committees at their August 7 meeting. They will also consider bids for a Fire Rescue command vehicle and for sand and gravel contracts.
Also on the agenda: reviewing revised bylaws for the Library Board of Trustees and setting a deadline for applications to fill an open seat on the MSAD 15 school board, occasioned by the recent resignation of Laura Jane Sturgis. Find the full agenda packet at this link.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Meetinghouse and will be broadcast on local cable and live-streamed on Castus at this link. The meeting will follow a workshop with the Environmental Resources Committee and a presentation by Maine Waste to Energy’s John King. The board workshop starts at 6 p.m., also at the Meetinghouse.
Board and Committee application and selection process. Over the past year, the board has met in workshops to clarify the selection criteria and application for appointment to town boards and committees. The board’s revised guidelines, application and meeting schedule can be found at pp. 30-39 of the agenda packet. The board will also discuss scheduling a workshop to discuss the Town’s Bylaws for Boards and Committees.
Bid openings. Bids for a Fire Rescue command vehicle are due to be opened at this meeting. Read the specs at pp. 10-14. Sand and gravel contracts are likely to be awarded following review of bids received with those opened at the board’s last meeting (pp. 5-9).
Vacancy on MSAD 15 School Board. A vacancy on the MSAD 15 School Board has opened with the recent resignation of Laura Jane Sturgis. Under Maine law, the Select Board appoints someone to serve until the next municipal election, in this case June 2024. The board will discuss setting a deadline for applications for appointment (pp. 27-29).
Revised bylaws for the Library Board of Trustees. The Trustees have proposed two Youth Trustee positions for high school students. The board will consider the Trustees’ revised bylaws with these new roles (pp. 15-18).
