RE: Update on the Bus Accident
What we have learned since the last communication is:
- An MSAD 15 student was struck by a tractor trailer truck while crossing the road after exiting their school bus.
- The MSAD 15 bus was stopped at the student’s regular bus stop with its flashing lightsand flashing stop arm engaged.
- The injured student was transported by ambulance to the hospital with serious injuries. A parent accompanied the student in the ambulance.
- The school bus was not hit by the truck and the remaining students on the school bus were not physically hurt.
- The remaining students on the bus were evacuated accompanied by MSAD 15 staff. These students were transported back to Gray-New Gloucester High School where they were met by school counselors and social workers and were reunited with their families.
- School counselors and social workers will be available to support students and staff at the Middle School, High School, and Transportation Department on Wednesday morning.
