Dear MSAD 15 Community,
It is with great sadness that I write to inform you that Anne Rowe, who was serving as the vice chair of our MSAD 15 School Board, passed away last night at the age of 64. After a battle with cancer, she died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends who loved her very much.
Anne’s contributions to this community are too many to fully recount in this message, but I can say with confidence that no one was a greater supporter of our schools and students from the time she began volunteering at Russell School in 2000. In June, she was planning to retire from the board after serving five three-year terms, during which she was the trusted chair of the finance committee, along with stints as both vice chair and chair of the whole board. She was also a founding member of our athletic boosters program and a driving force behind the creation of our football program in MSAD 15. I don’t know that she ever missed a home game in the time I knew her.
And she was a great friend and colleague to me. We have worked especially closely together for the past four years, as a chair and vice chair team, often having daily conversations through the teeth of the pandemic. Through it all, she was kind, steady, thoughtful, caring, and always focused on doing what was best for the kids and staff she served in this school district. I admired her greatly and can only hope to live up to the example that she set for me — and all of us — every day.
Please join me in keeping her family in our thoughts and let her inspire all of us as we seek to continue the standard she has set.
Sincerely,
Sam Pfeifle
Chair, MSAD 15 School Board
