Residents came together on a breezy summer evening on Thursday to enjoy strawberry shortcake and good conversation at the 48th annual Strawberry Festival, put on by the New Gloucester Historical Society.
Musician Jim Gallant, longtime resident and a local favorite, entertained the crowd inside the vestry, while outside, neighbors chatted on the steps and kids raced around in the sunshine.
The gathering marks the unofficial kick-off of summer in New Gloucester and reflects the work of many hands, both during the event and behind the scenes in the days and weeks leading up to it. Thanks to all who made this year’s gathering a success. — Joanne Cole
