Walk with Shannon: Morse Mountain to Seawall Beach

|Shannon Erich Warren|

If you are looking for a leisurely walk to take with a friend, I highly recommend Morse Mountain to Seawall Beach Trail in Phippsburg.

The trail is a little used private road that gently slopes down through a marsh and then up over Morse Mt ending at the beach. Known affectionately as “No Fun Beach” (due to restrictions on balls, floating devises, dogs and any other sources of distraction) Seawall Beach is long and deep (especially at low tide) with plenty of nooks and crannies for picnics and exploration.

The trail is a relatively easy 4 miles out and back. The beach adds another couple of miles of walking or a comfy place for a nap before the return trip.

As you enter Morse Mountain Road, the small parking area is on the left. If it’s a nice day, get there early as the lot fills quickly. Morse Mountain is overseen by the Nature Conservancy and Bates College.
