Suzan Hawkins: Message to the community

| Suzan Hawkins, former Library Director |

To Library Friends and friends,

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the chance to be a part of your lives for the past 38 years.  I have been honored to be a part of your families, celebrating births, weddings, and getting that big boy or big girl bed, as well grieving with you through the loss of your loved ones, 2- and 4-legged.  Watching you grow up has been special.  I may not have children, but I do have my library kids – any child, regardless of their current age that came through the library doors.  The fact that some of you are now coming back with grandbabies, is something I will remember forever.  My one regret is that I won’t be here to greet your great-grandbabies.

With that said, I have decided not to apply for the position of librarian.  I have loved being your librarian and having you as part of my library family.  But, the time has come to move on.  I am ready to turn the page and start a new chapter in my life, and it is time to share you all with another lucky person.  I know you will make them welcome.

This doesn’t mean that I will be fading into the woodwork.  I have a library card and plan to be a part of the library family. I will just be on the other side of the counter.

Take care and stay safe.

Fondly,
Suzan
