Press Release Regarding COVID-19 Vaccine
Prepared by: Captain Hale Fitzgerald|

New Gloucester Fire and Rescue members will be receiving the COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday, January 6th, between 4pm and 8pm at the North Yarmouth Community Center, in a coordinated effort with multiple fire departments. The Moderna vaccine will be administered by the Scarborough Fire Department. This will be the first vaccine out of a series of two, with the second dose being administered twenty-eight days after the first dose. The vaccine is not mandatory for members, and those who do not receive it will sign a declination form acknowledging that the department has offered them the chance to be vaccinated. A similar form is already used for the Hepatitis B vaccine.

PSA: COVID-19 is still a very real public health concern. At the time of this release there have been 76 cumulative cases in New Gloucester since the start of the pandemic (Source: WMTW). Please practice social distancing, use of face coverings, and good personal hygiene to help limit the spread of this disease. New Gloucester Fire and Rescue personnel are prepared to respond to confirmed and potential COVID-19 cases, as well as any other emergency that may arise.
