New Gloucester Fuel Assistance Fund Needs A Refill

| Julie Fralich |

For the past few years, local musicians have held a holiday concert at the First Congregational Church in early December with proceeds used to support the local Fuel Assistance Fund.  The concert always features local singers, musicians and other special guests who read well known Christmas stories or perform holiday skits and poems. Sadly, this favorite holiday tradition will not go on this year due to the pandemic.

Yet the need for emergency fuel assistance remains and undoubtedly will be even greater this year. In the last few years, between 14 and 20 families a year have applied for and received help with the delivery of 100 gallons of oil or kerosene to a household.  The funds raised over the years have grown from $2000 in 2017 to over $3500 in 2019 with proceeds from the usual holiday concert and the Coastal Winds Band concert.

The First Congregational Church manages the fund, and any and all donations to the fund this year would be very much appreciated. The fund is for our neighbors, families in New Gloucester.

Donations may be sent c/o of the Treasurer, First Congregational Church, PO Box 114, New Gloucester, 04260. This info is also on the church web page under the Donate Tab.

If you would like to enjoy concerts from prior years, they may be viewed on Youtube or Facebook.

We are all looking forward to more fun in ’21 when we hope we can again get together for these treasured community events.
