GNG Backpack Club receives award from Berlin City

The Gray-New Gloucester Backpack Club is pleased to announce we have been chosen to receive a Drive for Education Program Award from Berlin City for the third consecutive year. Once again this grant give us the financial security we need to stock our food pantry shelves through the end of the school year. The positive impact of this program is far-reaching – affecting the children we serve, the students who volunteer for us, the community members, and our staff as well.
Our program is a 100% collaboration of volunteers including students, staff in our five schools, and our parent volunteers. Our pantry is run by the Gray-New Gloucester High School Community Service Club and the EXCEL Program. The students are responsible for taking inventory, unpacking food deliveries, stocking shelves, and making sure over 140 bags of food are packed and ready to go out each week to the five schools in our district (compliments of the district transportation department).|
Thank you Berlin City for this generous donation, and to all who work hard throughout the year to make it all happen!
