Fall classes and events at the Pineland Y

Hello New Gloucester Community Members,

As fall sports are coming to a close and the weather is starting to turn cold, we hope you will be looking to keep your kids active and having fun indoors at the Y.  Molly Cyr, our Youth Development Coordinator, has worked hard to expand our Fall II session of classes to fit kids of all ages, abilities and interests.  Take a look at these exciting new classes below (class descriptions attached), as well as dates for upcoming events.  Registration is still open, and classes begin next week (the week of October 31st).  We hope to see you in classes!

Ages 8-12
Come learn about the natural world through traditional and experiential learning. Focus on air, land, and water.  This course will foster an appreciation of the earth and its natural resources.

EXCITING NEWS & SAVE THE DATES
Intro to Dance and Ballet is returning to Saturday mornings with Mylan Bannon.  The theme for Fall II will be ‘Alice in Wonderland’.  This class will focus on dance fundamentals, creative movement with a focus on fun!  Class will be held 10:30-11:15am in the Community Room.

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with the GNG School Department.  Children with adaptive sports needs in and around the Gray/New Gloucester community will have access to new sporting opportunities in an all-inclusive environment.  This ‘Special For Us Adaptive Sports Program’ will be offered monthly and at no cost to families (thanks to the support of the GNG PEP Grant funds).  Our first session is Wednesday, October 26th for swimming.  For more information please contact Anne-Marie Brown at abrown@ymcaofsouthernmaine.org.

Wellness for Life-  We are excited to continue working with the Dempsey Center and supporting their newest program “Wellness for Life”.  If you are within two years of a cancer diagnoses the Dempsey Center will provide a one year membership for you and your family at the YMCA of Southern Maine’s Pineland Branch.  For more information please contact mbannon@ymcaofsouthernmaine.org.

Halloween at the Y ‘Spooktacular’
October 28th | 6:00-8:00pm
Try the haunted bounce house or tells ghost stories by the campfire!  Everyone is encouraged to come in costume!  Games and snacks will be available.  Volunteers are needed to help at the snack tables and to help facilitate games.  For more questions please contact Molly Cyr, Youth Development Coordinator at mcyr@ymcaofsouthernmaine.org.
