Eyrie Tales

| Diantha Grant |

Winter brings lots of surprises sometimes. We saw a beautiful red fox on the ice last week (after the dog barked his head off to warn us of impending danger). And we thought that was pretty special. But then Terri DeCoster posted a video on Facebook that made us all envious.

It was late afternoon. She had seen some unusual paw prints in the snow earlier in the day. Hmmmm! What might it be? She looked out her window at Sabbathday Lake and what does she see? A bobcat! One of the most elusive creatures in Maine, right there, in her front yard!

Talk about being in the right place at the right time! Such a lovely creature. The entire video is on the Sabbathday Lake Association Facebook page if you would like to see it.

The bobcat has not been a nuisance and we respectfully ask that no one come looking for him.

Thank you, Terri, for sharing your images with us.

P.S.  The eagles have been spending a great deal of time around the nest, even doing preparation work. Mama still doesn’t appear to be incubating any eggs. We still have another month of potential breeding time. I’ll keep you posted.
